Registry of Deeds Talk by Roots Revealed

I will be delivering a talk entitled ‘Unearthing the Treasures in the Irish Registry of Deeds‘ on Friday 14 April.

The Registry of Deeds is a wonderful repository of deeds, leases, mortgages and wills that has survived intact from it’s inception in 1708. With over five million deeds and multiple names and places mentioned in them, there is a good chance you will find an ancestor within these records.

In the talk, the key areas that I will cover are:

  • Setting up the Registry of Deeds
  • How the deeds were registered
  • People named in the deeds
  • Type of deeds
  • How to search the deeds

Demonstrations of how to carry searches are included along with examples of different records that may be found.
